Liane Plane is a former soloist with American Ballet Theatre and Latin America's Ballet Alicia Alonso. She was a cast member of the original Broadway production of West Side Story and Bob Fosse's Redhead. Her teaching method emphasizes a supportive and non-competitive atmosphere. If you've danced before and would like to move again, you'll be surprised how good it feels to get back into class again.
Starts with a barre that places emphasis on how to use the feet, how to shift weight from both legs to one leg, the movement of the head and arms. Following the barre, the center focuses on basic turns, balance without stress and breathing; basic movement elements are developed into combinations and dance phrases. Understand the logic of the vocabulary and how it progresses, and the joy of movement will follow.
Ballet is a wonderful way to gain body awareness, improve posture, balance, coordination and concentration. In a comfortable environment with all adults, this class offers you the opportunity to learn all the basic ballet terms and positions. Ballet is not only a full body workout using all muscle groups, but grace and elegance is also achieved through correct body alignment and musicality. This class prepares the foundation for you to continue to study in the open beginner level class. If you always wanted to study ballet and never knew where or how to start, this class is for you!
