Daniel Catanach was born into a large Hispanic family and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has served as the Artistic Director for Urban Ballet Theater and Santa Fe Dance Company, as well as the Rehearsal Director for the Kansas City Ballet and Ballet Master for Armitage Ballet .

Daniel has been an acclaimed guest choreographer and teacher at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Dance Theatre of Harlem, STEPS on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. Nationally, he has been invited to create work and conduct master classes for Ballet Lubbock, Dallas Repertoire Ballet, Delaware Dance Company, New York Dance Alliance, Armitage Gone Dance, National Dance Instittute, Kansas City Ballet and NORD/NOBA Center for Dance in New Orleans.
Daniel is most known for his critically acclaimed Nutcracker in the Lower which celebrated a ten year run in New York’s Lower East Side. Internationally, he has been on the faculties of dance schools in Paris, Rome and Stockholm. He served as the Director of the Performing Arts Training Program at the Henry Street Settlement, where he has seen many of his students from diverse backgrounds grow through the ranks into trained professionals now working in companies which include: New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theater, Alvin Ailey American Dance Company as well as many who now dance on Broadway.
